Our Parish & Daily Life

For more than a century, Annunciation has been a Greek Orthodox community of worship, witness, and welcome — in downtown Kansas City and now on Wornall Road.

Welcome — thank you for your interest in our parish.

We invite you to learn more about our 100+ year journey, our worship, and the life of our community. The pages below offer a window into who we are and how we live our faith day by day.

Would you like a tour of our church for yourself or your group? Let us know and we'd be glad to arrange one.

Mission, Vision & Values

What we strive for, what we believe, and what we hold as central to the life of our parish.

Mission

To love God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind — and our neighbors as ourselves.

Vision

As an Orthodox Christian community of believers, to experience a foretaste of God's Kingdom in this world — and eternal life in His Kingdom to come.

Motto

Serving Christ. Serving People.

Aims, Purposes & Beliefs

Our aims and purposes are to keep, practice, and proclaim the Orthodox Christian Faith pure and undefiled.

Our beliefs are best summarized by the Nicene Creed of 325 AD — the Creed of the one, ancient, and undivided Christian Church, and the only Creed ever used by Orthodox Christians.

Our Values

Central to our parish since its founding:

  • The Gospel of Jesus Christ
  • The teachings — verbal and written — of Christ, His Disciples, and the Church
  • The One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church
  • Worship — the work of the people
  • The holy mysteries & sacraments
  • Community and fellowship
  • Service and ministry
  • Witness — proclaiming Christ in words and actions
  • Synergy — doing the will of God together as the Body of Christ
