Meet Our Priest

Fr. Peter Balkas

Fr. Peter was raised in Lowell, Massachusetts. In 1983, he graduated with distinction from Hellenic College, earning a degree in Philosophy and Religion. He continued his studies at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, where he earned a Master of Divinity degree with distinction.

In 1988, Fr. Peter married his beloved wife, Presbytera Karen, and together they have shared 38 years of marriage, ministry, and faith. That same year, he was ordained to the holy priesthood and has faithfully served the Church for more than 38 years.

Fr. Peter and Presbytera Karen have been blessed with two wonderful children, Jennie and George. Jennie recently married her husband, Sean. George and his wife, Emily, have further enriched Fr. Peter and Presbytera Karen's life with two cherished grandsons: Peter, age 5, and Daniel, age 3.

Throughout his ministry, Fr. Peter has faithfully served parishes within the Metropolises of Chicago, Boston, New Jersey, and now Denver. His dedication to the Church led to his election to the Metropolis Council of Denver, where he continues to serve with commitment, wisdom, and humility.

Since arriving at Annunciation in 2022, Fr. Peter has considered it a true blessing to serve such a warm, caring, and faithful parish family. He is deeply grateful for the opportunity to minister to the community and looks forward to continuing to grow together in faith, worship, fellowship, and service to Christ.
