As the duly accredited women's philanthropic society of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, the purpose of Philoptochos is fourfold:

  1. to help the poor, hungry, destitute, aged, sick, unemployed, orphaned, imprisoned, widowed, handicapped, disaster victims and to anyone who may need the help of the Church,
  2. to promote the philanthropic purposes of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America,
  3. to help perpetuate and preserve Orthodox Christian concepts through the Orthodox Christian family and the teachings and Holy Traditions and customs of the Orthodox Faith and
  4. to promote participation in the activities of the local Greek Orthodox parish.  All of the above is to be done with, discretion, courtesy and kindness.
